Szoboszlai hails Liverpool’s gritty draw at Arsenal as ‘step forward’

Dominik Szoboszlai has praised Liverpool’s resilience after they held Arsenal to a hard-fought 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium, describing the result as a clear “step forward” for the Reds.

In a clash that lived up to its top-flight billing, Arne Slot’s men stood firm against the Premier League leaders and came away with a valuable point on Thursday night.

As the contest unfolded, Liverpool showed defensive discipline and tactical maturity, stretching their unbeaten run to 10 matches across all competitions.

Although clear-cut chances were limited, the Reds came agonizingly close to snatching all three points in the first half when Conor Bradley lifted a delicate effort onto the crossbar.

From there, the game became a test of concentration, intensity, and game management, with Liverpool matching Arsenal stride for stride.

Reflecting after the final whistle, Szoboszlai highlighted both the quality of the opposition and his side’s renewed belief.

“We faced an unbelievable team,” Szoboszlai reflected to Sky Sports post-match. “But I think we showed again today why we became champions last season.

“Now this was a step forward I think after the recent weeks. We showed again that even against a team that is top of the table we can compete and we take it with us for the next weeks and we move on.”

Ultimately, while goals proved elusive, the draw reinforced Liverpool’s competitive edge and momentum.

With confidence building and consistency returning, the Reds will look to carry this performance into the coming fixtures as they continue their push at the top end of the table.
