Carrick plays down Man United’s form despite shock win at Arsenal

Michael Carrick has stated that he is not getting carried away by Manchester United’s impressive form after their 3-2 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

The former Middlesbrough manager took over as caretaker manager earlier in the month and has guided the Red Devils to crucial wins in difficult encounters against Manchester City and Arsenal.

In five matches at the dugout of the Red Devils dating to his first spell in 2021 when he took charge of three matches, the 44-year-old has won four and drawn only one of those matches.

“I’m not getting carried away”, an excited Carrick stated during his post-match interview.

“So we’re not getting carried away. We’ve got really important things coming up that we need to keep improving with.

“But there’s a lot of emotion, a lot of energy and a lot of confidence that you can take from that [beating City and Arsenal], but be humble and understand how we’ve got these results. That’s really important moving forward.”

Manchester United sealed a dramatic 3-2 win over league leaders Arsenal on Sunday to move into fourth place on the Premier League standings.

The Red Devils are only 12 points behind the Gunners as they continue their push for a return to Europe after missing out in the last campaign.

“I know from our perspective it’s just about moving forward to the next game. It’s been less than two weeks that we’ve been together, so it’s just keep getting good habits and good routines. The boys have been fantastic with that.

“But I don’t think we can look too far ahead. We certainly won’t be anyway, so we’ll finish where we finish by getting the results.

Manchester United will return to action next Sunday, when they welcome Fulham to Old Trafford, hoping to continue their impressive form.
