Man City’s Thomas seals loan switch to Glasgow City

Codie Thomas has completed a loan move to Glasgow City for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, taking the next step in her development with the Scottish champions.

The versatile full-back links up with a side currently setting the pace in the SWPL, having gone unbeaten so far this campaign.

The teenager has already built valuable senior experience since making her debut in October 2024, featuring in four first-team matches.

That breakthrough came on the European stage against St Polten in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, before further outings followed against Leicester City and in the reverse fixture with the Austrian side.

Momentum continued off the pitch too, as Thomas signed her first professional contract in December 2024, before committing her future further with a fresh two-year extension last summer.

However, just as her season was gathering pace, an injury setback in January 2025 halted her progress and limited her opportunities before the campaign drew to a close.

Despite that interruption, she still managed to make her mark, including a late cameo in the League Cup victory over Everton back in September.

Beyond the senior setup, Thomas has also been a key figure for the Next Gen side, playing her part as they currently sit top of the PGA U21 Division One.

Now, the focus shifts north as she looks to gain consistent minutes and sharpen her edge with Glasgow City, a club renowned for nurturing young talent while competing at the highest level.

With league leaders’ momentum behind her, the loan spell presents an ideal platform for continued growth.

Everyone at City wishes Codie Thomas every success as she embarks on this new chapter with Glasgow City.
