Glasner hails Crystal Palace’s support after win at Brighton

Oliver Glasner has hailed the support of the Crystal Palace fan after their winless streak ended on Sunday when they recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win at Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Eagles were without a win in 12 matches across all competitions, but ended that streak at the American Express Stadium with a vital win that moved them up to 13th on the standings.

Senegalese forward Ismaila Sarr scored the only goal of the game in the second half after an assist from debutant Evan Guessand.

A mix between relief and happiness. Not the best Premier League game. Circumstances dictated that, it’s explainable. We defended very well. That is our foundation. We gave them one chance then we waited for our moment. We’re really happy”, Glasner said in his post-match press conference.

Crystal Palace’s record signing Jorgen Strand Larsen started the clash, while Guessand also made the bench after joining the club from Aston Villa during the winter transfer window.

Both sides traded chances to score until Guessand slipped in Sarr, who applied a clinical finish beyond Bart Verbruggen to score the game’s only goal.

Larsen had further chances to double the lead, but was denied as Crystal Palace grabbed a well deserved 1-0 win.

“Thank you to our fans. Plenty of opportunity to boo us and they never did. Bond created between the fans and the team They never booed. Not pleased but we always felt the support”, Glasner added.

“Scenes at the end. Players and fans emotions you can’t buy. Fans can go down the M23 making a couple of stops for some Guinness. Fans can wake up Monday morning happy when they go to work – the week is easier to start with a win.”

Crystal Palace return to action on Wednesday when they host relegation-threatened Burnley, hoping to secure another win to continue their rise up the table.
