Ceri Holland celebrated a dominant Liverpool FC Women display after Sunday’s 4-1 victory over Aston Villa at Anfield, securing back-to-back home wins in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Goals from Mia Enderby, Martha Thomas, captain Grace Fisk, and substitute Aurelie Csillag highlighted a clinical attacking performance from the Reds.
Holland, who was voted Carlsberg Player of the Match by supporters, praised the team’s cohesion and resilience.
“It’s a massive three points,” she told Sky Sports. “We were a little bit disappointed with our performance last week [against Manchester United]. We didn’t feel like it was us. It was really nice to be back at home and in front of our fans and to get all the goals today was a good feeling.
“It’s really important. It’s an area where we’re aware we need to work on. I say that as a forward player! It was really nice to have different goalscorers, it was really pleasing.”
She added: “It was a really good performance. I enjoyed the first half in particular. The second half became a bit of a battle. Villa are a good physical team so I think we played really well in that first half an hour period and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
“I think we’re aware of where we are. I don’t think the table reflects who we are and how we’ve performed this season. We don’t really look at that too much and we focus on the next game.
“We’ve got a really good feeling around the place right now. We continue to build and continue to improve because there’s still so much to improve on.”
