Thomas Tuchel has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him as England head coach until after the 2028 European Championship.
The former Chelsea manager assumed the role in January 2025 and signed a deal until after the World Cup this summer.
The 52-year-old had attracted interests from the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, who were both keen on appointing him as manager at the end of the season.
However, he will now remain as coach of the Three Lions until 2028, when England will co-host the tournament with Wales, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.
“I am very happy and proud to extend my time with England”, Tuchel stated.
“It is no secret to anyone that I have loved every minute so far of working with my players and coaches, and I cannot wait to lead them to the World Cup.
“It is an incredible opportunity and we are going to do our very best to make the country proud.”
Tuchel has managed 10 games since his arrival and he has won nine of those matches, losing just once to Senegal in a 3-1 result last June.
He guided the Three Lions to a flawless campaign during their World Cup qualifiers, winning all of their eight matches while scoring 22 goals and conceding none.
“I have had so much support from [FA chief executive] Mark [Bullingham], all my colleagues at the FA and from fans wherever I go that I did not hesitate when asked to continue in this dream job.
“Euro 2028 will be a very special tournament and as a coach there is nothing more you want than to compete with the very best on the biggest possible stage”, he added.
Tuchel will now hope to lead England to victory in the 2026 World Cup in the summer, as they hope to win their first major trophy since they last won the tournament in 1966.
