Farke backs confident Leeds to rise to Villa Park test

Leeds United return to Premier League action on Saturday with a demanding trip to Villa Park, where a high-flying Aston Villa side await.

The Whites head into the Birmingham clash buoyed by recent resilience and momentum.

Last time out, Leeds showed real grit by clawing back from two goals down to secure a crucial point against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking ahead of the trip, head coach Daniel Farke acknowledged the scale of the challenge but insisted his squad travel south with belief rather than fear.

“Villa are sitting position three in the title race, so it will be a tough game,” the manager said. “They have fantastic results, are one of the best teams in this league. Unai Emery has developed them into a European force.

“But on this level you always have tough games. We are used to playing against big teams and lots of individual quality.

“It is important to make sure they do not shine too much on offence because they have lots of individual quality, top players, play really good processes.

“We have to make sure that we show our best performance and need a bit of luck. We have to be pretty effective in using our chances, brutal and relentless.

“We always have self-belief. We have proven that we have a good group, outstanding fitness level and mentality. It has brought us to 30 points from 26 games.

“We are on a good path but I am a realistic person. There is no reason to be carried away. We have to win many more points and for that we will stay with a foot on the gas.”

With confidence growing and character already shown against elite opposition, Leeds will aim to bring intensity, efficiency and belief to Villa Park as they look to extend their steady progress in the Premier League.
