Mauricio Pochettino has opened the door to a potential return to Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur after the FIFA World Cup in the summer.
The former Chelsea manager will lead the USMNT to the upcoming tournament in the summer and could seal a sensational return to Spurs after the tournament.
Pochettino became the head coach of the United States football team in 2024 and with his contract expiring in a few months time, he has been linked with a return to club management.
“There are always rumours, I’m always linked (to clubs),” Pochettino revealed.
“To Tottenham, just like at one time I was linked to Espanyol, or to other clubs.”
Tottenham are searching for another permanent manager following the dismissal of former Brentford coach Thomas Frank after about eight months in charge.
The Europa League champions have appointed Igor Tudor on interim basis until the end of the season, giving them time to conduct their search for a new manager.
Meanwhile, Pochettino, who was at the club between 2014 and 2019 is among the frontrunners for the job alongside the likes of Roberto De Zerbi and Julian Nagelsmann.
“In the end, especially because of my past at those clubs, when things aren’t going well, people tend to fall back on emotions and say, “Well, with Mauricio we played good football,” or whatever it may be”, Pochettino added.
We’re focused on the World Cup, on the United States. My contract runs until after the World Cup, so after that we’ll see what might happen.
“Open to everything, right?”
For now, Pochettino’s focus will be achieving a good finish with the United States at their home tournament in the summer, although that could be his final piece of action with them should he decide to return to North London.
However, Spurs must first improve on their performances and secure their top-flight status if they are to appoint a top candidate for the role of head coach.
