Everton FC manager David Moyes underlined the importance of his side’s 2-0 victory over Burnley FC at Hill Dickinson Stadium, describing it as a crucial step in their push for European qualification.
Fresh from a dramatic 3-2 success at Newcastle United, the Toffees carried their momentum into another commanding display.
James Tarkowski set the tone with a powerful first-half header, before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall capped a slick attacking move after the break to seal back-to-back Premier League wins in the space of three days.
As a result, Everton remain eighth in the table, just two points shy of sixth-placed Chelsea FC, keeping their continental ambitions firmly alive.
Reflecting on the performance, Moyes credited the growing confidence within his squad.
“The players came into tonight full of confidence and with a lot of belief.
“Dwight’s performance at Newcastle was very good. He built on that and took that into tonight’s game, and we’re seeing a much-improved Ili and Gana after they come back from the Africa Cup of Nations, and also Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall improving greatly because he’s just beginning to get back to where he was before the hamstring injury.”
The Everton boss highlighted how key individuals are rediscovering their rhythm at a decisive stage of the campaign.
With Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye returning from international duty sharper and more influential, and Dewsbury-Hall regaining full fitness, the Toffees appear to be hitting stride at the right moment.
The gaffer added: “I think getting those players back on form is helping us play better and helping us get a bit better rhythm.”
Consequently, Everton’s resurgence has injected fresh belief into their season. If they can sustain this intensity and cohesion, Moyes’ side will remain firmly in the hunt as the race for European places gathers pace.
