Brentford’s Andrews eyes European push after stalemate with Leeds United

Brentford boss Keith Andrews has backed his side to keep pushing in the race for Europe, expressing optimism despite a goalless stalemate against Leeds United.

Following the hard-fought draw, Brentford remain eighth in the Premier League table.

However, with rivals around them dropping points, the Bees have edged closer, now sitting just three points behind Liverpool in fifth place.

As the run-in gathers pace, Andrews admitted he has only kept a partial eye on results elsewhere, choosing instead to focus on his team’s momentum heading into the final stretch.

“I haven’t looked properly [at results elsewhere], to be honest,” said the gaffer.

“I’m aware of a couple of results below us and above us as we’ve gone into the game.

“The league is obviously pretty condensed in that part of the league, but seven to go.”

Nevertheless, the Brentford boss struck a positive tone, highlighting the team’s effort and resilience in reaching their current position.

“Excited? Yeah. We’ve worked hard to get into this position. That’s the reality.

“We’ve pushed really hard, we’ve given absolutely everything, and we’ll continue to do so.”

With seven matches left on the fixture list, Brentford’s European hopes remain firmly alive.

If momentum swings in their favour, Andrews’ side could yet turn a solid campaign into a historic finish.
