Christian Norgaard has urged Arsenal not to dwell too much on their recent dip in form, instead calling on the team to stay focused on their remaining fixtures as they look to rescue their season.
The Gunners’ hopes of winning a trophy were first dealt a huge blow when they were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City in the EFL Cup final a fortnight ago.
The North London side then suffered a shock 2-1 loss to Southampton on Saturday, which sent them crashing out of the FA Cup.
Hopes for a historic quadruple challenge have now been dashed, leaving them with just two trophies to challenge for this season.
Speaking after the defeat on Saturday, Norgaard believes the players must shake off recent disappointments and focus on their remaining games this season.
“The message is to have a positive body language, to talk with your team-mates, with the coaching staff”, Norgaard said.
“Now is not the time to go with our heads down for too long.
“It’s fine to be frustrated tonight and also tomorrow to analyse what went wrong, but then we also have to look forward because there are so many big games coming up for this club.”
Arsenal still hold a nine point advantage over Manchester City in the Premier League title race, although Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand.
The Gunners are also still in contention to win their first-ever Champions League title, with a quarter-final tie against Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon to hold over the next two weeks.
“Disappointing evening,” Norgaard added.
“We all had our hopes high to win and go back to Wembley, but yeah, that’s not the case.
“Sorry to disappoint so many travelling fans, they created an amazing atmosphere and, yeah, today was not good enough”, the former Brentford midfielder concluded.
Arsenal will now hope to shake off their recent defeats when they visit Portugal to face Sporting in the first leg of their UCL last eight encounter on Tuesday.
