Kelechi Iheanacho made a decisive return to the spotlight, firing home a late winner to seal a hard-fought 2-1 victory for Celtic against Dundee at Dens Park.
After months on the sidelines due to injury, the Nigerian forward stepped up when it mattered most, grabbing his fourth goal of the season and his first since October.
As the game edged towards its conclusion, Iheanacho’s clinical finish ensured Celtic walked away with all three points in dramatic fashion.
Reflecting on the performance, the striker expressed both relief and satisfaction at contributing to such a crucial win.
“It feels good to help the team to get the win today. We really showed character and we really worked hard today to get the win,” he said.
“I think, especially in the first-half, we blew them away and had a few chances, but unfortunately it didn’t click.
“In the second-half they came back and scored the penalty, but at the end we got the points which is massive.
“I’ve been out for a while so it feels good to be back and to help the team get the win, so I’m happy.”
Earlier in the match, Celtic had dominated proceedings, creating multiple chances but failing to convert.
However, as momentum shifted in the second half and Dundee drew level from the spot, the Hoops were forced to dig deep.
In response, they showed resilience and attacking intent, with Iheanacho ultimately delivering the breakthrough that reignited their title push.
His goal not only secured victory but also marked a significant personal milestone after a challenging spell out injured.
As the season enters its decisive phase, Celtic will look to build on this momentum, with Iheanacho’s return to form offering a timely boost in their pursuit of silverware.
