Former Chelsea captain Terry worried after Liam Rosenior’s sack

Chelsea’s turbulent season has taken another dramatic turn following the sacking of head coach Liam Rosenior, and club legend John Terry has now voiced serious concerns about the direction of the Blues.

Rosenior’s departure comes just 107 days after his appointment, with the former Hull City and Strasbourg boss overseeing only 23 matches.

Despite signing a long-term deal in January, results on the pitch quickly spiraled, culminating in a heavy 3-0 defeat to Brighton and a worrying run of five consecutive league losses without scoring: an unwanted record not seen in over a century.

As the dust settles, the Blues now find themselves searching for a new manager for the second time this season.

In the interim, Calum McFarlane has been handed the reins, with his first test coming in a high-stakes FA Cup semi-final clash against Leeds.

Amid the uncertainty, former captain John Terry did not hide his fears about the club’s current situation, speaking candidly about the instability surrounding Stamford Bridge.

“I sit here worrying tonight about what is going to happen with our football club,” Terry said on his TikTok account.

“Looking at us needing a manager after the weekend, I’m not sure when ownership are going to make a decision and bring a new manager in.”

Terry also questioned whether Chelsea, in their current state, can attract top managerial talent, pointing to deeper structural concerns within the club.

“Is a real top manager going to come to Chelsea Football Club at the moment in the position we are in?

“Can’t buy players, looking like we are going to have to sell potentially and that will be our best players, which is always tough.”

With European football also slipping out of reach, the former defender admitted the situation is becoming increasingly troubling.

“We will not be playing in European football, I hope I am wrong. Really frustrated and worried more importantly.

“I feel the anger, feel the frustration of the Chelsea supporters.”

However, despite the off-field chaos, Terry urged the current squad to block out distractions and focus on the task ahead: a crucial cup fixture that could still salvage pride from a difficult campaign.

“But listen, I’ve seen 17 managers in my era come and go as Chelsea captain.

“What the players have to do is just get together and really focus on the weekend’s game and forget about all the noise around and everything.”

He emphasized the importance of mentality and concentration, especially in moments like this.

“We have a massive game, it is really difficult, but also really easy to do as players to forget the noise and focus on what’s ahead of you and that is the Leeds game at the weekend.”

Drawing from experience, Terry acknowledged that managerial changes are not new to Chelsea; but hinted that this time feels different.

“We’ve seen this time and time and time again, but maybe the future isn’t as clear as we’ve always seen.”

As Chelsea prepare for their next fixture, the spotlight remains firmly on both the dugout and the dressing room.
