Pep Guardiola has played down talks of a domestic ‘treble’ following Manchester City’s win over Southampton on Saturday.
The Cityzens recorded a comeback 2-1 win over the Saints to advance to the final of the FA Cup for a fourth consecutive season, becoming the first club in history to achieve the feat.
This has led to discussions over the possibility of a domestic treble for City, who have also won the EFL Cup after they defeated Arsenal in the final in March.
Meanwhile, they could also still win the Premier League, as they currently trail leaders Arsenal by three points, although they have a game in hand.
Speaking after the clash, Guardiola believes the most important thing is to focus and approach each game as they come.
“No, too much. That is far away”, Guardiola said.
“Before the [FA Cup] final and before the Aston Villa game [the last game of the Premier League season] I will tell you if there is a chance. Now it’s not. Far, far away.
“It’s important to have three days off for the players, and I told them, so don’t think about football. Rest. Then we start a season of five games plus the final of the FA Cup.”
Manchester City came from a goal down to defeat Southampton 2-1 in their semifinal clash on Saturday.
After falling behind to Finn Azaz goal in the 79th minute, City scored twice in the final 10 minutes to seal a final berth.
Jeremy Doku’s deflected strike pulled them back on level terms, before Nico Gonzalez scored a stunning goal to seal the win and send them into the final.
Manchester City will now face Chelsea in the final, after the Blues edged Leeds United 1-0 in the other semifinal.
