Emery urges Aston Villa focus ahead of Tottenham Hotspur clash

Unai Emery has called on Aston Villa to quickly switch gears following their Europa League semi-final setback, as attention turns to a decisive Premier League showdown with Tottenham Hotspur.

After slipping to a narrow first-leg defeat against Nottingham Forest, Villa now face a pivotal moment in their domestic campaign.

With Champions League qualification within reach, a victory over Spurs could seal a top-five finish, provided results elsewhere fall in their favour.

Despite frustrations surrounding VAR decisions in midweek, Emery is keen to draw a line under the result and push forward.

“Everything that happened [on Thursday] is done, but it’s the first part of two legs we’re going to play,” Emery said.

“We’re analysing it but we’re going to take a break before analysing the second leg at home next week, which is very important, but now we need to focus on the league.

“Everything that happened about the decision of the referees and the VAR issues I spoke about in the press conference, is done.”

As the table tightens, Villa remain in a strong position: sitting comfortably ahead of rivals like Brighton & Hove Albion and Bournemouth, while still within touching distance of the top three.

Now, as the season enters its final stretch, Emery’s message is clear: reset, refocus, and respond.
