Manchester City injury woes continues as midfielder ruled out for a month

Manchester City have been hit with another injury setback with influential midfielder Mateo Kovacic ruled out of action for about a month.

The Croatian midfielder suffered an injury while on international duty for his country in a UEFA Nations League game against Portugal and manager Pep Guardiola has said the 30-year old faces up to four weeks on the sidelines.

Kovacic’s injury adds to the Cityzens injury woes this season. They have been hit with a long list of injuries with Ballon d’or winner Rodri ruled out of the season and key players such as the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Jack Grealish, Nathan Ake and John Stones also unavailable for selection due to varying degrees of injury problems.

The former Chelsea midfielder who has filled the void left by Rodri has started in 10 of Manchester City’s 11 Premier League matches this season and his loss will be a huge blow for the Cityzens who are currently five points adrift of the top of the English Premier League.

Manchester City are on a run of four consecutive defeats and the loss of Kovacic is a huge dent on their title bid as they look to reduce the gap to League leaders Liverpool.

The midfielder will miss a busy schedule that involves matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace in the Premier League and UEFA champions league fixtures against Feyenoord and Juventus.
