Como agree permanent deal to sign Nico Paz from Real Madrid

Italian side Como have agreed a deal with Spanish giants Real Madrid to sign Argentine midfielder Nico Paz, who will join the club after the World Cup.

Paz, a graduate of La Fabrica, rose through the ranks at Real Madrid before joining Como in 2024 after struggling to break through the first team.

The Italian side paid a fee of about €6 million, although Madrid maintained the option of a buy-back clause that comes into play this summer.

It had looked like the 21-year-old would return to Spain this summer as they planned to activate their €9 million buy-back clause.

While the clause was activated, Como paid €60 million to sign him permanently although Real Madrid maintain a percentage of the future sales and also have an option to sign in the future for €80 million.

Como beat Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa to his signature and have now tied down their best player to a long term deal.

Paz was named the best U-23 Player of the Season in the 2024-25 season and was also named in the 23-man squad for Team of the Season for that same campaign.

The 21-year-old was named the best midfielder in the Serie A for the just concluded season, where he played a big role as Como qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history.

“EXCLUSIVE: Como agree deal with Real Madrid to buy Nico Páz on permanent move, here we go!

“Agreement reached as Como will re-buy Nico Páz from Real Madrid. Nico wanted to stay at Como.

“Real Madrid will keep control on Nico and maintain buy back clause.”

Paz will now aim to improve on his performances for Como next season, with the chance to display his talents on the European scene for the club as well.
