Arsenal land Bruno Guimaraes in £75m Newcastle United transfer

Arsenal have completed the signing of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United in a major £75 million transfer that strengthens Mikel Arteta’s midfield options.

The 28-year-old midfielder has agreed a four-year contract with the Gunners, with Arsenal also holding an option to extend the deal by another 12 months.

The move represents a significant statement of intent from Arsenal as they continue to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.

Guimaraes will wear the No. 39 shirt at the Emirates Stadium, bringing his Premier League experience, technical quality and aggressive midfield style to Arteta’s side.

After several seasons at Newcastle, Guimaraes believes the time was right for a fresh challenge.

The Brazilian midfielder says conversations with Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta and manager Mikel Arteta helped convince him that North London was the right destination.

The opportunity to join Arsenal has clearly captured his imagination, with Guimaraes already looking ahead to creating a new chapter in his career.

“I feel amazing. I’m glad for the opportunity. Since the first time I spoke to [Andrea] Berta and Mikel [Arteta], I was excited. I just felt inside of me that I need a new challenge in my life and I think to be an Arsenal player is going to be an exciting challenge in my life.

“I’m so excited to join you. I will give you my best, I promise. I’m your warrior, I’ll never give up. Hopefully we can create many, many good memories together.”

Guimaraes’ arrival gives Arteta another high-level option in the middle of the pitch.

The Brazil international has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most influential midfielders since arriving in England, combining defensive aggression with composure and quality in possession.

His ability to operate in different midfield roles could also give Arteta greater flexibility when managing Arsenal’s demanding schedule.

The Gunners have been searching for the extra quality needed to turn sustained domestic challenges into trophies, and Guimaraes arrives with the profile of a player capable of competing immediately.

The £75m investment underlines the club’s belief that Guimaraes can make a significant difference.

At 28, he also arrives with considerable experience, meaning Arsenal are not simply investing in potential. They are adding a midfielder who has already proved himself at the highest level of English football.

For Guimaraes, meanwhile, the transfer provides an opportunity to compete for major honours with a team that has been pushing towards the top of English and European football.

His message to Arsenal supporters is already clear. He is ready to fight.

The Brazilian’s description of himself as Arsenal’s “warrior” will immediately appeal to supporters who have watched the club develop a stronger competitive edge under Arteta.

The expectation will now be that Guimaraes carries that mentality onto the pitch.

Arsenal have invested heavily in a player who knows the Premier League, understands the demands of elite football and appears motivated by the challenge ahead.
