Kane set to extend Bayern Munich stay within days

Harry Kane is on the verge of committing his future to Bayern Munich, with the England captain revealing that a new contract could be signed within the next few days.

The striker, who joined the German giants from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, is approaching the final stages of his current four-year agreement. However, negotiations have progressed positively, leaving both parties increasingly confident of reaching an agreement.

Kane’s decision to extend his stay comes after another remarkable season in which he scored 73 goals for club and country, collected two trophies in Germany and helped England secure third place at the World Cup.

The 33-year-old was also recently crowned the world’s best player at a glittering ceremony in London, further underlining his extraordinary influence at the highest level.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Bayern’s Champions League meeting with Atlético Madrid on Tuesday, Kane provided an encouraging update on the negotiations.

“I would say it is more [a matter of] days,” Kane said at a news conference ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League match at Atlético Madrid. “There has been good conversations over this weekend and today as well.

“I know I keep saying we are close, but we are extremely close now. Details are just details in every contract.

“A lot of the bigger stuff has been ironed out and we are happy with, but in every contract there is loads of little things that go into it, small details that in the end the lawyers have to thrash out and figure out.

“So all in all I would say it is more days than weeks. From what I have heard, the conversations have gone well again today and hopefully we will be in a place to do something within the next few days.”

Beyond his contract situation, Kane is also focused on helping Bayern navigate a challenging period in their season. The forward described the past week as a “rollercoaster ride”, having experienced the high of receiving the world’s best player award before enduring disappointment against Borussia Dortmund.

Kane missed a penalty during Bayern’s 2-2 draw with their Bundesliga rivals at the Allianz Arena, a result that prevented the team from claiming maximum points in Der Klassiker.

The setback came at a difficult time for Bayern, whose squad problems have also deepened following the game. Midfielder Ismael Saibari is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing ankle surgery, while forward Serge Gnabry has suffered a hamstring tear.

Those injuries add to the challenges facing the German champions as they prepare for their European assignment against Atlético Madrid.

Nevertheless, Kane’s expected contract extension would provide Bayern with a major boost. Since arriving from Tottenham, the England international has established himself as a central figure in the club’s attacking plans, combining prolific goalscoring with leadership and consistency.

With negotiations reportedly down to the finer details, Bayern appear close to securing the future of one of world football’s most influential forwards. Kane’s latest comments suggest the announcement could arrive sooner rather than later.
