Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, has been named among the final five nominees for the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
The exceptional performances of the Nigeri international for both club and country in the year 2024 has continued to stand him out among the African players for the prestigious award.
The Atalanta star, who makes the shortlist for the first time, joins Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi, South Africa’s Ronwen Williams, Brighton’s Simon Adingra, and Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy in the battle for Africa’s most prestigious individual football award.
Lookman stood out for the Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where he contributed three goals and an assist in seven appearances. At club level, the forward was pivotal for Atalanta, memorably scoring a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final, a feat that propelled the Serie A side to continental glory.
This season, the 27-year-old has continued his fine form, delivering 11 goals and five assists in 18 matches across all competitions for La Dea.
The CAF Awards ceremony, slated to hold in Morocco in less than four days will see either Lookman and the other four nominees announced as the winner.
