Bright-Osayi: Nigerian defender denies report linking him to become Osimhen’s teammate

Fenerbahce defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has dismissed rumors of him agreeing a move to Turkish champions Galatasaray.

The Super Eagles defender had been reported to have accepted a deal to dump Jose Mourinho’s side in the summer in favor of a move to the table-toppers, but has now rubbished the news as false.

The 27-year old joined the Yellow Canaries from English Championship side Queens Park Rangers in 2021, and has been a key performer for the side as they look to reclaim the Turkish league crown from Galatasaray.

He has 18 appearances in all competitions this season including nine starts in the league and has only missed the Match-day squad due to injury.

His current contract expires at the end of the season and he is free to negotiate a move to another club, after not agreeing an extension yet at his current side. He has however ruled out a move to join countryman Victor Osimhen at the champions, pledging his allegiance to Fenerbahce.

Osimhen is currently on loan at the Turkish champions after joining in the summer from Napoli, and has been a revelation in the league. He has scored nine league goals already this season and is expected to leave the club when his loan deal expires at the end of the season, although he could also prefer to remain at the club.

Addressing recent rumors regarding his transfer situation, the versatile defender said, “There is no such situation. I want to stay at Fenerbahce.”

Bright Osayi-Samuel current focus is finishing the season on a high and he could remain at the club if a deal is agreed before the season ends.
