Cyriel Dessers: Super Eagles star hails Rangers’ interim manager ahead of crucial weekend clash

Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers has showered praises on interim head coach Barry Ferguson as he prepares to take charge of his first home game since his appointment.

The 47-year old replaced Philippe Clemente, who was dismissed last week after a series of disappointing performances. In Ferguson’s first game in charge, the former Scottish league champions secured a comeback 4-2 win over Kilmarnock, with Dessers grabbing a brace in the game.

“I’ve seen him (Ferguson) in the Hall of Fame, obviously. I know what he did for the club – five league titles, five Scottish Cups, all these things, so that speaks for itself”, Dessers said.

“He knows the club through and through, he knows what the fans want, what the club is all about and he’s just trying to bring that to us.”

Rangers host eighth-placed Motherwell on Saturday, hoping to secure back-to-back wins under their interim boss as they look to close the gap to runaway leaders Celtic.

“Obviously some (of the current players) have been around for a long time, they know this as well, but I think it’s good to hear it from him (Ferguson) as well.

He’s a Rangers legend. In all the staff, I think we have some players who have been very important for Rangers”, the Super Eagles star added.
