AC Milan and England full-back Kyle Walker is set to be sidelined for an indefinite period after undergoing surgery for a fractured elbow.
Walker has been a key figure for the Rossoneri since joining on loan from Manchester City in January but the Italian side will be without the;34-year old after it was confirmed that the full-back has undergone surgery for a fractured elbow.
“AC Milan can confirm that Kyle Walker sustained a fracture in his right elbow today. To ensure better healing and optimize recovery time, the player underwent surgery in Milan to repair the olecranon through osteosynthesis. The operation went perfectly to plan. Kyle will begin rehabilitation immediately.” the club said in an official statement.
Walker’s return timeline is yet to be identified but head coach Sergio Conceicao will be hoping to have the England international back before the end of the season as Milan battle for a spot in next season’s European competition. They currently sit ninth in the Serie A table, seven points off the sixth-placed Europa Conference League spot.
Milan face Udinese on Friday night before hosting Atalanta next weekend in Serie A. If they can pick up all six points from those matches, their hopes of playing in Europe next term will remain alive, with Walker potentially returning before the end of the season to help push them over the line.
