RB Leipzig frontman Benjamin Sesko has put his teeming suitors on high-alert after casting a huge shadow over his future at the German club by suggesting that “it is open” and “anything can happen” ahead of the summer transfer window.
A player in high demand
Benjamin Sesko has developed into one of the most sought-after centre-forwards in Europe since bursting onto the scene at Salzburg with Arsenal nearly securing his signature last summer before he opted to extend his stay at RB Leipzig.
The Slovenia international’s contract reportedly includes a sliding-scale release clause, making him available this summer for around €80 million (£66 million), although it is thought that Leipzig may accept a lower bid.
The 21-year-old continues to attract strong interest from top Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United with at least a couple of the aforementioned clubs expected to make a move this summer.
Sesko leaves RB Leipzig exit door wide open
Speaking to Sky Sports Germany earlier this week, the young hitman insisted he is fully focused on finishing the season strongly with Leipzig. However, he refused to rule out a potential exit this summer.
“Right now, I’m 100% focused on RB Leipzig. Then we’ll see what happens. It’s open, anything can happen,” he said.
“I’m having a better season than last year. That’s very important to me. I can do a lot of things better, I have a lot to learn, I have to improve on small things. Then I’ll score significantly more goals.
“There’s no pressure this season. It was a constant up and down. Hopefully we can get the most out of the two games, and then we have to hope that the other teams drop points.”
