Leverkusen confirm Erik ten Hag as new manager

Bayer Leverkusen has officially appointed Erik ten Hag as their new gaffer. The Dutch manager has agreed to a contract running until June 30, 2027.

Starting on July 1, 2025, he will help to guide the club into the 2025/26 season.

Who go for Erik ten Hag?

Ten Hag comes with top-level Ajax and Manchester United expertise.

Between 2018 and 2022, he helped Ajax win three Eredivisie championships and two KNVB Cups. He won the 2024 FA Cup and 2023 Carabao Cup at Manchester United.

Managing Director of Sporting Simon Rolfes lauded his leadership and strategic thinking.

Rolfes remarked, “Our football philosophy aligns perfectly.”

He stressed the club’s dedication to technical and dominating football every tournament.

What did Ten Hag say?

Ex-Red Devils’ coach stated he was looking forward to starting with one of the most competitive German clubs.

“Bayer 04 are among the best in Germany and Europe,” he revealed.

He continued: “I’m here to build on the ambition shown in recent years.”

He called the initiative an “attractive challenge” and is eager to build an ambitious team for Champions League glory, DFB Pokal, and Bundesliga.

With the pre-season approaching, the 55-year-old will swiftly start to strengthen his crew. True to the Black and Reds’ trademark, anticipate a fast, possession-driven style.
