Paris-Saint Germain manager Luis Enrique recently shared his thoughts on the widely speculated Real Madrid interest in one of the vital members of his continental quadruple-winning squad.
Real Madrid have reportedly identified Paris Saint-Germain defender Willian Pacho as a potential target to bolster their defense after struggling to keep up with Hansi Flick’s young and exciting Barcelona side last season due to a glut of defensive injuries and consequent lack of personnel.
Having already welcomed Premier League duo Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold from AFC Bournemouth and Liverpool respectively, Los Blancos are thought to be keen on making Pacho the next defensive addition to Xabi Alonso’s squad.

Luis Enrique’s reaction to Real Madrid’s interest in Pacho
Following Paris Saint-Germain’s impressive 4-0 opening win over Atletico Madrid at the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup, Enrique was quizzed about Real Madrid potentially trying to poach Pacho’s signature ahead of next season.
However, the Spaniard appeared very relaxed about the situation, expressing total confidence in his side’s ability to retain their key players.
“It’s normal that [Real Madrid] want all our players, but it’s difficult to get players out of Paris Saint-Germain,” Enrique said with a smile on his face.
Can Real Madrid realistically sign Willian Pacho?
Willian Pacho played a vital role at the heart of defense for Luis Enrique’s PSG as they went on to win everything winnable last season so luring him away from the Parc des Princes this summer will not be an easy task for any club.
However, stranger things have happened in football so a potential move cannot be outrightly ruled out. In situations like these, the player’s preference could well determine how things will eventually pan out.
For now though, the 23-year-old defender remains a Parisien and he will be looking to help the club to yet another trophy with PSG clearly one of the favourites to win the ongoing Club World Cup.
