Spanish center-back Cristhian Mosquera has confirmed his imminent departure from Valencia amid reports linking him with a move to Premier League giants Arsenal.
On Monday, popular football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano announced that Arsenal have agreed a deal to land highly rated Spanish defender Mosquera on a five-year contract.
The 21-year-old is set to arrive in north London for a reported £13 million fee plus add-ons, as Mikel Arteta continues to strengthen his squad. Once confirmed, Mosquera will become the Gunners’ fourth signing of what is shaping up to be a thrilling summer transfer window.
Mosquera himself has now revealed in a recent interview with Marca that he would indeed be departing Valencia this summer although the Spain international did not disclose his exact destination.
“I arrived when I was 12, and now I’m leaving as a grown man,” he said, with the Spanish publication stating he said goodbye to his team-mates on Monday.
“I’m a little sad because I’ve been here my whole life, but decisions in football are like that. Now, a new era begins. It’s exciting, but it’s also sad.”
Mosquera joined Valencia’s academy at 12 years old and has been on a rapid rise ever since. At just 17, he made his first-team debut in the Copa del Rey, delivering a standout performance that had coach Jose Bordalas calling him the best player on the pitch.
Days later, he became Valencia’s youngest-ever centre-back to feature in La Liga, holding his own against Sevilla’s attack and showing composure beyond his years. By 2023, Mosquera was a full-fledged first-team player, and in February 2025, he scored his first La Liga goal in a 2–0 win over Leganes.
Calm under pressure, strong in duels and confident on the ball, the 21-year-old has all the traits to thrive under the tutelage of his compatriot Arteta. Arsenal fans, get excited for this could be the next defensive star at the Emirates.
