Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has dismissed ongoing speculation about a potential departure from St. James’ Park, emphasizing that he is committed to the task of representing the Magpies this season.
Isak established his reputation as one of Europe’s top finishers last season, netting 21 goals in 30 Premier League appearances, which led to links with clubs such as Barcelona, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
Speculation about a potential switch has persisted in gossip columns due to Arsenal’s inconsistent form and their reliance on Kai Havertz as a central striker, despite Isak publicly committing to Newcastle in June.
While on international duty with Sweden, the 25-year-old has once again expressed his satisfaction at Newcastle, stating that he has never had any problem at the club and isn’t considering a move elsewhere.
“Throughout my career, I have never talked about or really commented on the move rumours during the season,” Isak told Swedish publication Fotbal Skanalen.
“There have been many such years where it has been talked about. It doesn’t affect me. I am commenting on my situation in Newcastle, and I have never had any problem there.
“I am fully focused on my task there and that we will have a fantastic season. There are still great opportunities for that. I have no thoughts about anything else.”
“The only thing I can say is that a lot of information and rumours often come out. Much of what I read is not true. So that’s about all I can say about the whole thing.”
So far this season, Isak has scored four times from nine Premier League appearances. The Swedish forward hit a fine patch of form just before the international break as he scored in each of his last four appearances for the Magpies.
