Liverpool’s talismanic forward Mohamed Salah has expressed disappointment in his current position at the Merseyside club as he has yet to receive an offer to renew his contract.
Salah, who is Liverpool’s top scorer this season with 12 goals across all competitions, is nearing the end of his current deal, which expires at the end of this season.
In the recent 3-2 victory over Southampton, Salah made history by becoming the first Liverpool player since October 2021 to score in five consecutive Premier League matches for the club. His brace in that game also included his 100th away goal for the Reds in all competitions.
Since joining from Roma in 2017, Salah has been the player for the Merseyside giants and the Egyptian has expressed disappointment over the lack of progress regarding his contract extension.
“We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club,” he said. “I’m probably more out than in.
“I’m not going to retire soon, so I’m just playing, focusing on the season, and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed, but we will see.”
Salah is one of three key Liverpool players in the final year of their existing contracts, with skipper Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also running down the last months of their deals.
“You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this,” Salah added.
“But in the end, it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December, and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.
“I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end, it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”
