Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has praised Morocco international Noussair Mazraoui following his impressive showing in their hard-fought 3-2 win over Bodo Glimt on Thursday.
The Red Devils returned to action at Old Trafford on Thursday when they welcomed Norwegian giants for their UEFA Europa League clash. Manchester United were the favourites to win the game, but they made it unnecessarily tough for themselves
Manchester United scored in the first minute, courtesy of Alejandro Garnacho. However, they were pulled back, as Bodo Glimt scored twice before the 24th minute through Hakon Evjen and Philip Zinckernagel.
Nonetheless, Rasmus Hojlund scored twice to help Manchester United claim the win. Asides from Hojlund, Moroccan defender Mazraoui had an impressive showing. He registered one assist, four clearances, one interception, five tackles, 139 touches, and three key passes.
Following Mazraoui’s showing, Manchester United boss Amorim showered encomiums on the Morocco international.
“Noussair Mazraoui is an incredible player. He is our future. He always seems fresh even if we have to be careful with all the matches. He is the kind of player we need,” Amorim said.
Amorim’s statement indicates that Mazraoui will play an important role in the team this season and next season. However, other players will be wary about their positions.
Most of the current players can not flourish in Amorim’s system. As such, they have been a lot of speculations and links between Manchester United and other players.
During the January transfer window, the former Premier League champions are expected to bring in some reinforcements.
