Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has stated that he was disappointed with Liverpool fans’ reaction in their 2-0 loss at Anfield on Sunday.
Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City continued their winless streak when they traveled to Anfield on Sunda. Recall that the Cityzens were in terrible form going into their game against the Reds, as they had lost five of their previous games in all competitions.
Going into their fixture on Sunday, the home side were the favourites to claim the win, as they have been in supreme form recently.
The Reds took the game to Manchester City early on, with Cody Gakpo scoring in the 12th minute. Then, in the 78th minute, the Merseysiders struck again through Mohammed Salah from the spot.
It was a vintage performance from the Reds, as they were in the driving seat for the entire fixture. However, Guardiola made a gesture that has dominated talks. The former Barcelona showed the number 6 with his hands, in response to Liverpool fans who were taunting him.

After the game, Guardiola spoke about the situation. He explained that he expected better from Liverpool fans.
“I’m so proud of my six Premier Leagues, I did it over Liverpool and other teams, I’m sorry. Maybe I deserve to be sacked honestly. But with the results, maybe I’m still in job because I’ve won six Premier Leagues and a lot of titles,” Guardiola said, according to Sky Sports.
“But I didn’t expect that the fans would start to sing at 0-1 when the game was a little bit tighter. But it’s fine, its part of the game.”
Manchester City’s next game is against Nottingham Forest, and Pep Guardiola will hope that his side can return to winning ways.
