“I’m proud of my players”- Guardiola reacts to Manchester City draw at Crystal Palace

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed pride in his players despite their disappointing 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Cityzens came from behind twice in the game and had teenager Rico Lewis sent off for a second bookable offence as they finished the game with ten men.

Daniel Munoz opened scoring for the Eagles at Selhurst Park before Erling Haaland’s thirteenth league goal of the season brought City level.

They fell behind again to a Maxence Lacroix header from a corner before Rico Lewis, who was later sent off, scored from a fine Bernando Silva pass to level things in the match.

“We’ll take the point. I’m incredibly proud of the players, how they fought, came back twice and difficult conditions”, Guardiola said after the match.

“We made two fantastic goals. In set-pieces right now every single team is stronger than us. In general the game was there. Really pleased for many things I saw.”

Manchester City failed to close the gap to league leaders Liverpool and are currently eight points behind the Reds who have a game in hand after their lunchtime kickoff against Everton was postponed.

“The season started difficult and will be difficult all season. We have to survive, every game try to take points, win games and go forward. We knew it from the beginning, we have to continue with the players at our disposal”, he added.

Pep Guardiola’s side have only won one of their last nine matches in all competitions and will look to end the dismal run when they travel to Italian side Juventus in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
