Umar Sadiq: Valencia’s Corberan lauds Super Eagles star after brace in Osasuna draw

Valencia head coach Carlos Corberan has praised Super Eagles forward Umar Sadiq after his brace secured a valuable point in the 3-3 draw at Osasuna on Sunday.

The Nigerian international joined Los Ches from Real Sociedad on loan till the end of the season in January, and has continued his fine form for the club, taking his tally to three goals in six Laliga appearances.

Valencia took the lead in the match through Diego Lopez before Aimar Oroz equalized for the hosts.

Umar Sadiq then put his side ahead in the 32nd minute, although they ended the half on the back foot conceding twice as they went into the break 3-2 behind.

“Sadiq arrived very committed and eager to work. We are going to give him the confidence he needs to continue helping the team”, Corberan said.

“Scoring three goals is nice, but conceding three is less nice . To win we had to be more defensively strong. Attacking doesn’t stop you from defending better at many moments of the game.

In defence we were not as tight as we should have been. We should have defended the result with the ball and we didn’t do it”, he added.

The Super Eagles star scored his second in the closing stages of the match, to give his side a valuable point as they continue their fight to avoid relegation.
