Former English Premier League champions Manchester United will complete the signing of Paraguayan defender Diego Leon by next summer.
Manchester United have been linked to many players in recent months. This coincides with INEOS and Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover and the appointment of Ruben Amorim as coach.
The Red Devils’ defense could do with some extra quality. And last summer, they acquired the services of Leny Yoro last summer. But they are looking to add more talents.
According to Transfer News Live, the Red Devils will complete the signing of Diego Leon from club Cerro Porteno next summer, in a deal worth €5 million.
Leon, who plays primarily as a left-back will be Amorim’s first signing at Manchester United once the deal is completed.
The yoingster is one of the highly-rated players in Paraguay, and is ranked 20th on the list of most expensive 17-year-olds.
Leon is very rugged but smart. He also offers a huge threat in the final third, as he is adept at crossing the ball.
However, it is unlikely that he will break into the first team immediately because of his age. He could also struggle to adapt to European football immediately. As such, he could have to start from the youth teams.
