West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen is expected to spend time on the sidelines, after fracturing his foot in the 5-0 defeat against Liverpool on Sunday.
The England international was substituted in the 60th minute before being replaced by Crysencio Summerville, as the Hammers were thrashed by the league leaders in front of their home fans.
In an Instagram post revealed by Bowen, he admitted to sustaining the injury in the match which will keep him out of action for a while, although the club did not disclose how long he will be out of action for.
“Unfortunately, in the first half of our game on Sunday I suffered a fracture to a bone in my foot,” he wrote on Instagram.
“As always I tried to fight on and continue playing until I physically couldn’t. Injuries happen in football, but I’m already looking forward to getting back out there as soon as possible. See you all soon.”
His injury is a big blow to the Hammers who have bounced back in recent games to put behind their early season woes.
The 28-year old has played all of West Ham United’s league matches this season and has been their most productive attacker evident with his five goals and four assists, while he recently scored the 100th league goal of his career in a 1-0 win away at bottom-placed Southampton on Boxing Day.
Julen Lopetegui’s side will be in action against Premier League champions Manchester City, on Saturday with Bowen expected to be out, and will be looking to bounce back from their embarrassing loss to the Reds.
