English Premier League side Aston Villa, have reportedly shown interest in signing Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze from Italian giants AC Milan this January.
The 25-year old joined the Rossoneri from Villareal for €28 million in the summer of 2023, and could be set for a reunion with Spanish coach Unai Emery, who was his manager at the Yellow Submarines.
The Nigerian winger has struggled for playing time and form in Italy, with the likes of United States winger Christian Pulisic and Portuguese forward Rafael Leao ahead of him in the pecking order. He has also struggled for stability in the team, as he is currently under his third manager in less than two years at the club.
Chukwueze is currently out of action after suffering a hamstring injury that has kept him out of action, since being substituted in the first half of an Italian Serie A match against Claudio Ranieri’s AS Roma in December.
Former Premier League champions Arsenal, were the first team interested in his signature as he was seen as a suitable replacement for injured England international Bukayo Saka, but the Villans have now emerged as front runners for his signature.
After the transfer of Jacob Philogene to Ipswich Town, Aston Villa view the former Villareal winger as a suitable replacement and a move to England would mean a new chapter for the former Villareal winger, who is widely known for his pace, trickery and brilliant ball control.
With AC Milan also interested in the signature of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, Chukwueze -who has failed to stake a spot in the club’s starting lineup, could favor a move away this January in search of more playing time.
