Amorim reacts to Alejandro Garnacho exit rumours amid Chelsea links

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has not ruled out the possibility of winger Alejandro Garnacho leaving the club, with the young attacker the subject of numerous transfer speculation since the turn of the year.

West London giants Chelsea have been credited with serious interest in the talents of Garnacho, with the Blues monitoring the Argentina international closely for several weeks. In the last couple of days, Chelsea have reportedly intensified efforts to land the winger’s signature in the January transfer window.

While United are not actively seeking to sell Alejandro Garnacho this month, their financial circumstances, coupled with plans for a potential squad rebuild under Amorim, could compel the Red Devils to consider an acceptable offer as any sale of the Argentine would represent 100% profit under the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Garnacho featured in Man United’s 2-1 Europa League victory, logging the full 90 minutes. When asked about the youngster’s United future after the game, Amorim praised the 20-year-old but hinted that a potential departure could still be on the cards in the coming days.

“He’s playing for Manchester United,” Amorim stressed. “He was really important for us today. Let’s see in the next days.

“I think he’s improving in every aspect of the game. He was better today playing inside and also outside, changing positions. He’s improving the recovery position. You can see it.

“For the whole 90 minutes, he’s always there recovering and helping. Sometimes showing some frustration is really good because he wants more.”

“I think he has potential to be so much better in every situation of the game,” Amorim continued.

“What I can say is that he understood what I was trying to do and was really clear. I just want to help him. In the end, it’s the players who do the job.”
