Enyimba coach Stanley Eguma has stated that the former CAF Champions league winners are ready to compete for the Nigerian Professional Football League, after suffering a first round continental exit.
The Peoples Elephant travel to the Sanni Abacha stadium on Thursday in a rescheduled league game to face Kano Pillars, and Eguma is confident his side are ready to give their all in the encounter.
The two-time African Champions were eliminated from the Confederations cup after suffering a 3-1 loss to Zamalek on Sunday, resulting in their elimination from the group stages, while leaving the league as their only hope of a trophy this season.
“Enyimba against Kano Pillars any day, is a big game”, Eguma said.
“We are coming back to the NPFL after our dismal performance in the CAF Confederation Cup. I think the boys have now shifted their focus to the NPFL.
We are ready for the encounter, and I believe we have to give our all in the game to ensure we pick points and improve our fortunes in the league.”
The NPFL record Champions who are currently seventh on the log with 27 points, two ahead of their Wednesday’s opponent although they have two games in hand, will hope to secure maximum points from the match in a bid to close the gap to Remo Stars, who top the league standings.
