English Premier League side Aston Villa are reportedly eyeing a move to sign Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from rivals Wolves.
The former Atletico Madrid striker who joined the West Midlands club permanently last summer after initially joining on loan in January 2023, has been one of the most standout performers in the league this season.
The striker has scored ten Premier league goals this season in 21 appearances for Vitor Pereira’s side, despite what has been a challenging season, as they currently sit 17th on the standings, level on points with 18th-placed Ipswich Town.
Despite initially struggling for form at the beginning of his Wolves career, the 25-year old’s influence has grown in the team, contributing to almost half of their league goals this campaign.
Unai Emery side have now joined title-chasing Arsenal, as well as this season high flying side Nottingham Forest, in the pursuit of the former RB Leipzig attacker.
With Colombian striker Jhon Duran linked with a move away from the Villa Park this Janury, Aston Villa are looking to Cunha as they see him as a suitable replacement due to his versatility and experience playing in the league.
Although Wolves might be unwilling to let their star man leave at a crucial point of the season, when they seem to be fighting relegation, the Brazilian forward could be let go if the right substantial amount comes in.
