Bayern Munich star, Mathys Tel has decided to not join Chelsea this term, despite reports linking him with a move away from the Bundesliga giants this term.
The Blues had made it clear early in January that they were interested in a deal to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich but the winger was aiming to remain at Bayern for the remainder of the season.
However, the 19-year old who made 41 appearances for Bayern last season has struggled to get consistent playing time having featured in just in just 13 games in competitions this season under head coach Vincent Kompany.
This development is believed to be the reason behind the youngster’s decision to leave the club in the January window.
Despite obvious interest from The Blues, reports by Bild claim that Tel has made it clear that he will not join Chelsea because of the strong competition for a starting spot in Enzo Maresca’s side.
Nonetheless, the 19-year old remains a primary target for some major European clubs, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham all interested in a deal.
Arsenal have retained their interest in Tel since his move to Bayern and could make a move before the end of the window as Mikel Arteta is keen to recruit another attacking option following the injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.
