“It’s an amazing feeling”- Onyedika excited after scoring in UCL loss

Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika has expressed delight after scoring for his side in their 3-1 UCL loss to Premier League Champions Manchester City on Wednesday night.

The Belgian side came into the game needing a draw to secure qualification and after a dull first half, they drew first blood when the Super Eagles star opening the scoring on the stroke of halftime. The former Midtjylland midfielder scored a brilliant goal from a counter attack to give Club Brugge a shock lead in the first half.

“I don’t know how to put it, but it’s an amazing feeling to score my first goal in City’s stadium. I’m so proud,” Onyedika said in an interview with journalist Shina Oludare.

“We knew it would be difficult after we got the first goal, we were a bit sloppy. And when we conceded the first goal, they had more momentum and energy, so it was much more difficult for us because of our mistakes.”

Pep Guardiola’s side came all out in the second half as goals from Mateo Kovacic, an own goal from Joel Ordonez and a Savinho strike secured a 3-1 victory on the night, as both sides secured qualification for the next round of the competition with the draws set to take place on Friday, January 31st.
