Alexander Isak believes that the narrative surrounding his move to Liverpool from Newcastle United remains unknown to the public.
Isak, 25, got his wish on transfer deadline day when he completed a move to join the English Premier League champions, ending an extended transfer saga with his former club.
The Reds paid a British-record £125 million fee for his signature, with the deal completed on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The Sweden striker was not involved in Newcastle’s preseason actions and did not feature in any of the three league matches prior to his transfer.
The relationship between Isak and the Magpies deteriorated after the club rejected a £110 million offer from Liverpool, prompting the striker to push for an exit.
“Not everyone has the full picture, but that’s something for another day,” Isak told Swedish media.
“That’s part of football. I can’t control everything that is said or written but I’m glad I became a Liverpool player. That’s what I wanted and I’m happy about that.”
Isak came on in the 72nd minute for Anthony Elanga, in Sweden’s 2-0 defeat to Kosovo in a World Cup qualifying match on Monday.
It was his first taste of action this season as he prepares for his Liverpool debut against newly-promoted Burnley on Sunday.
“There is a lot to discuss, and it can be discussed for a long time. It has been educational, and I’m happy with the final result”, he continued.
“I’m happy and proud to be a Liverpool player. I don’t want to go into details or talk about that situation too much. It is a closed chapter, but I have never had any problems.”
Liverpool travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley on Sunday, while Newcastle United host Wolves a day earlier.
