NPFL: Enyimba’s Eguma blames poor run of form on Fatigue

Enyimba head coach Stanley Eguma has blamed the club’s poor run of form on tiredness as a result of their fixture congestion.

The People’s Elephant have won just one of their past six matches in all competitions, and are winless in their last three NPFL matches with their latest result being a 1-1 draw at home to Heartland in the Oriental Derby on Thursday.

Stanley Eguma who joined the Aba Boys in December, in a bid to revive their season, has struggled to impact his playing style on the team so far with a series of disappointing results.

“As I’ve mentioned before, we’re dealing with fatigue in the team due to the tight schedule this month. Since January, we’ve been playing two matches every week. We just returned from Ilorin two days ago, played today (January 30, 2025), and tomorrow we travel to Bauchi to face Lobi Stars”, Eguma said after the draw against Heartland.

The former Rivers United manager has attributed the inconsistency to the fixture congestion, with the former NPFL champions combining league matches with continental fixtures.

“The players have been on the road constantly, and the wear and tear are evident. We’ll continue working hard to overcome the stress and fatigue affecting the team”, he added.
