Arsenal Legend Ian Wright has backed Marcus Rashford for a shocking move to Newcastle United which he termed as “dangerous” in his podcast. He termed the forward’s return to United squad this summer “No chance!”
After Man United exit, Rashford shines at Villa
The 26-year-old left the Old Trafford in the last hours of January transfer window because he was frozen out by acting manager Ruben Amorim. The forward set up a loan transfer to Aston Villa, who, it is said, have a £40 million option to finalize the deal at end of the campaign.
Having had a nice run of play since joining Unai Emery’s side, the England international has netted four times and setting up four others in all competitions in 17 games.
Large paychecks might slow down summer relocation
The forward’s strong salary demands could present a difficulty for possible suitors even while his performances have got the eye. Still, Wright thinks the Magpies have the will and financial means to get a trade done.
No return to Old Trafford
The ex-Arsenal player is sure that Rashford’s United story is done even though he spent all his career at Old Trafford before his January relocation. Given his rumored rocky connection with the club, a definitive departure this summer seems very probable.
“It’s the kind of signing Newcastle should be making,” Wright said on his Ringer FC podcast.
“That would be amazing. That would be dangerous. Rashford at Newcastle? Yeah. That would be really good. I really like that for Rashford. Rashford at Newcastle can be dangerous.”
After being asked about the possibility of Rashford returning to Amorim’s side in the summer, the Arsenal legend said: “Nope. No chance.”
What will Rashford do next?
The English striker could have possibilities on the table if Emery’s outfit is seeking to permanently sign him and Howie’s squad is being advised to enter the race. It is now a question of who will meet his terms as his youth form has shown he still has much to contribute at the top level.
