Amad Diallo sets Man United target ahead of new season

Manchester United forward Amad Diallo has revealed the criteria that needs to be met before Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils can boast of having had a good campaign by the end of the upcoming 2025/2026 Premier League season.

Many Manchester United fans are still recovering from the disappointment of the 2024/2025 season, after watching their beloved football club finish in 15th position on the Premier League table and suffer defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.

While the Red Devils were plagued by injuries in key areas of the pitch last season, their major problem was thought to be the mid-season arrival of Amorim, who introduced a totally different style of play that didn’t really suit the majority of United’s available personnel.

Having had a little more time to learn the ropes of Amorim’s “back-three” system, Amad, who was one of Man United’s brightest players in an otherwise dull campaign, is aiming for a return to the top end of the Premier League next season.

“A good season will be top five,” he told assembled journalists after United’s 0–0 draw against Leeds United. “I hope we can achieve that top five at the end of the season because I think we would deserve it.

“I think the fans have to be patient with us. There’s a new manager, with new players and new tactics, so we know last season wasn’t really good for the team.

“But I think this season we will win a lot with him and I hope we are going to achieve a lot of good things by the end of the season.”

With only domestic commitments to worry about this season, Amorim will have ample opportunity to ingrain his ideals into the United squad along the course of the season.
