Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has lauded the performance of forward Mohammed Kudus following the 1-0 preseason friendly win over Arsenal.
The Ghana international was impressive as Spurs won the first-ever North London derby held outside of England.
Kudus, 24, joined the Europa League champions from West Ham United in a deal worth £55 million earlier this month, fending off interest from Chelsea and Newcastle United.
“I think he was really good today. His hold-up play, the way he takes hold of the ball in tricky situations. His one-vs-one skills, his creating opportunities for the team was top class”, Frank revealed after the match.
“On top of that, I think he’s working extremely hard, and there was was recovery run from a set-piece when he was straining all the way back and he won the ball back. That’s how he can help the team so much.
He will make a lot of the fans excited with his offensive actions, and he will also help the team defensively”, he added.
Spurs started the match brightly, but could only muster one attempt on goal in the first half. They hit the bar twice from set-piece deliveries, before Brazil forward Richarlison missed from close range.
Pape Matar Sarr dispossessed Arsenal’s left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly in the midfield before hitting a spectacular long-range strike, catching David Raya off guard to give Tottenham the lead on the stroke of half time.
Arsenal’s latest acquisition Victor Gyokeres, came on with ten minutes left in the match for his debut as the game ended 1-0 in favor of Spurs.
Thomas Frank side will conclude their preseason tour of Asia with a clash against Newcastle United on Sunday, before heading to Germany to face Bayern Munich next Thursday.
