Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has tipped Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce for glory in the Turkish Super League next season.
The Yellow Canaries are yet to win a league title since the 2013-14 season and have finished runners-up to Galatasaray for three straight campaigns, while they are without any piece of silverware since winning the Turkish Cup in the 2022-23 season.
Despite the arrival of former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho last summer, they suffered yet another disappointment, finishing 11 points behind Victor Osimhen-led Galatasaray.
Bright-Osayi who joined Birmingham earlier this month after four years at Fenerbahce, revealed his admiration Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho and desire for his former side to end their league drought.
“For me, he was a great coach. It felt like he was the mandem. Before the game, he would give us so many stories about his family and stuff”, the Nigerian international said.
“It’s not just football, he wants to know how you’re doing away from football. He was a good coach for me, and I enjoyed being there with him.
It’s difficult in Turkey with the pressure of not winning, and I feel like we were unlucky last year. With his [Mourinho] experience, in his second year in Turkey, I feel he will now win the league there,” the Super Eagles defender added.
Fenerbahce begin the quest to end their title drought in the 2025-26 Turkish League campaign against Alanyaspor on Saturday.
