West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen was impressed with his side’s togetherness, after they ended their Premier League Summer Series campaign with a convincing 2-0 win over Bournemouth.
The England forward was on target in the victory over the Cherries, adding to a first half strike from German striker Niclas Fullkrug to complete the win.
The Hammers bounced back from an opening match defeat to Manchester United to win their next two matches, as they finished second behind the Red Devils in the preseason tournament.
“The positives are that we have had three really good games against Premier League opposition”, Bowen said after the match.
“Tonight we knew it was going to be difficult, they are a really good side.
I liked the character about the group. We didn’t have the best start but we stuck in there, we were together, we were a team. As the captain, that’s really good to see.”
Bournemouth striker Evanilson wasted a big chance early in the match, striking the inside of the post from a few yards out, before Fullkrug grabbed his second goal in as many matches to give the Hammers the lead.
Summer signing El Hadji Malick Diouf, who joined in a £19 million deal from Slavia Prague in July, produced another assured display with a brilliant ball for Bowen to score West Ham’s second of the match.
“Both goals were down to him and the quality that he’s got”, Bowen praised the new addition.
“He has only been here a few weeks but you would think he has been here years. That’s a credit to the kind of person he is. He’s humble and he’s obviously a brilliant footballer as well.”
West Ham United face Lille in their final preseason action on Saturday, before beginning their 2025-26 Premier League campaign away at newly-promoted Sunderland on the 16th of August.
