Rob Edwards opens up on securing Wolves Premier League survival

Wolves manager Rob Edwards says the club’s Premier League survival hopes are still achievable, but insists the team must start delivering results to avoid dropping to the second tier.

The 42-year-old joined the club last month as a replacement for Vitor Pereira, who was dismissed after a winless start to the season and is tasked with turning around their dismal campaign.

The club have not won in the Premier League since April and have only two points this season, eight points behind 19th-placed Burnley after only 13 rounds of matches.

They welcome Nottingham Forest to the Molineux later tonight, hoping to finally record their first league win of the 2025-26 campaign.

“I cannot imagine how hard it is for the supporters at the moment”, the Wolves manager admitted.

“But after the game, they were incredible. I think they were with us because they saw the commitment from the players and they saw the performance as well. It is going to be tough.

No-one’s ever done it from this position so I’m not going to sit here and give you a massive headline straight away but I believe in the group.”

Wolves have struggled this season and have scored the least number of goals in the league this season.

However, performances have improved since the arrival of Edwards and the club could be closer to a long-awaited first league victory in seven months.

“We owe it to ourselves and everyone connected to this football club to give it our absolute best and leave it all out there”, Edwards added.

“There are signs already that the supporters who are frustrated by the decisions that have led to Wolves’ decline do appreciate that.

“The most important thing is that they see complete effort, players fighting for the club, for the badge. That is a minimum, I know. But if we can see a bit more quality with that fighting spirit then I think we will keep the fans on side. They’ve been amazing so far”, he continued.
