Hampton and Donnarumma scoop FIFA Goalkeeper of the year awards

Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton and Manchester City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma have been named the Women’s and Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year respectively at the 2025 Best FIFA Football Awards.

Hampton, 25, played a major role for Chelsea in their domestic treble triumph as they won the Women’s Super League, Women’s FA Cup and the Women’s League Cup.

The Blues also reached the semifinals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, but were beaten by Barcelona after a two-legged affair.

The 25-year-old also helped the Three Lionesses to a successful defense of their European Championship crown with a penalty shootout win over World Champions Spain in the final in July.

She made six saves in the clash and also kept out two of Spain’s spot-kicks in the final to guide her team to glory.

“With club and country, we have achieved so much and there is still much more for us to go and get,” Hampton said.

“To the fans, both club and country, your support doesn’t go unnoticed. We hear you cheering every single game loud and proud and it helps push us on to go and get the win for you all. So, thank you very much.”

Donnarumma, on the other hand, helped French side Paris Saint Germain to a historic treble-winning campaign, including their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy.

The giant Italian goalkeeper eventually joined Manchester City in the summer, where he has helped the club to second place on the English Premier League standings, two points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Both players were also the recipients of the Yashin trophy in September at the 2025 Ballon d’Or award ceremony.
